Birth control

If you're having sex and you don’t want to get pregnant, you need to use contraception. There are lots of different effective methods of contraception available and Nataliya has years of experience of finding the best one for her patients. The choice of contraceptive method is determined by personal preferences, social and cultural factors. Nataliya as a health practitioner wil help to assess individual needs and contraception priorities.

Cervical cancer screening

Having regular Pap tests is the best way for women to protect themselves against cervical cancer. The Pap test is a quick and simple screening test for healthy women with no symptoms. The test was invented by, and named after, the prominent Greek doctor Georgios Papanikolaou. A Pap test looks for changes to the cells of the cervix that, if left untreated for a number of years, could develop into cancer. All women over 18 who have ever had sexual intercourse are advised to have a Pap smear every two years, even if they no longer have sex. If a woman starts sexual activity at a younger age, screening should start within two years of first sexual intercourse.

Breast cancer screening

An essential part of a well women check up is a breast check. Breast cancer is the most common cancer that affects women in Victoria. Finding cancer at an early stage increases the chances of successful treatment and improved survival. It's important to get to know your body and what is normal for you. If you notice anything unusual for you, see your doctor. Women aged between 50 and 74 are invited for a free mammogram every two years

Vulvavaginal Problems

There are a number of conditions that may affect your vulva and vagina. Some may cause only minor discomfort, others pain and irritation. Most are easily treatable so ask Nataliya for help and advice.

Sexually transmitted infections screening

Having sexually transmitted infection can have serious health consequences if they aren't diagnosed and treated appropriately. It's highly recommended to have sexually transmitted infections screen before or at the beginning of starting a new sexual relationship.

Sexual Problems

It is important to understand the factors that contribute to female sexual dysfunction and different ways it can manifest. Nataliya will provide valuable advice and assist with management of the problems.

Menopause and Osteoporosis Advice and Treatment

Nataliya has a special interest in menopause management. She regularly attends conferences to keep up to date in this rapidly changing area of medicine. She tailors advice and therapy, including hormone replacement, to suit individual women’s needs. Nataliya also manages established osteopenia and osteoporosis.

Iron Infusion

Iron deficiency is a common cause of anaemia. In Australia current clinical management recommends use of oral iron as first-line therapy for most patients presenting with of iron-deficiency anaemia. An iron infusion is sometimes recommended for people who are low in iron.

Urinary tract problems

Urinary tract infections and incontinence are very common in women of all ages. It's important to know predisposing factors for these conditions and being able to prevent and manage them. Nataliya has a lot of experience in dealing with the issues.

Well Women check

Every woman needs to have an ongoing relationship with a GP to maximise her health. It is crucial that you have a GP you can talk to and who you feel listens to you. How your GP can help you keep well depends on your personal circumstances. But here are some examples: STI screening and Prepregnancy health checks; Heart healthchecks; Diabetes healthchecks; Bowel cancer health checks; Diabetes healthchecks; Immunisation for women; Bowel and Ovarian cancer screening; other checks

Medical Abortions

Medical abortions with mifepristone and misoprostol are approved in Australia (up to 63 days = 9 weeks of gestation) It is less invasive than surgical abortion and still is very effective - 95 to 99 percent efficient in termination of pregnancy.
